Satellite Communication Technology (Installation)
This exhibition was about technology and how it crossed boundaries to other countries. When the satellite first came to Kurdistan, the Imams in the mosques were against it because they believed that European society would affect Kurdish culture and they would loose their religion. They therefore advised people to not buy them because of many negative reasons. There were afraid of modernisation coming from European culture. Ali Raza set up this installation with thirty satellite dishes and with thirty mannequin heads placed in the middle of the dishes. These were spray painted in black and white which is a representation of positive and negative, good and bad.
